Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her support and commitment to enhancing South African Social Security Company (SASSA) services throughout an engagement together with the company's senior administrators at a strategic planning session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the many social grant beneficiaries, who excelled within the 2024 matric examinations.
On the 724 156 full-time learners who registered with the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% with the registered pupils in the training sector.
These learners reached a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This means the expenditure national government is creating while in the lives of lousy and susceptible children is yielding a optimistic effect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe explained.
